PolyGone’s Co-Founder, Nathaniel Banks, attended the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. It’s the leading international event dedicated to urban innovation, empowering cities to collectivize innovation efforts across the globe.

The conference consisted of a three-day speaker program where international experts shared insights about sustainable urban development, and an expo where global companies and organizations showcased their projects.

PolyGone founder Nathaniel Banks meets with a Spanish ocean robotics startup.

With over 134 countries attending the conference, Nathaniel served as a representative of the United States. He talked to inventors and decision-makers about what urban issues matter to them, while bringing awareness to the global microplastic problem. Among the high-profile figures that attended was the prime minister of Estonia and the U.S. Department of Commerce Specialist.

Conversations with Estonian prime minister, Kaja Kalla, have opened up opportunities for PolyGone in the capital city of Tallinn, to collaborate by using PolyGone’s biomimetic filtration technology, and make microplastic mitigation a top priority.
